STRENGTHEN
YOUR RELATIONSHIP
Couples learn to work together to resolve conflict
· Build a closer relationship
· Search together for solutions
· Listen with real understanding
· Express wishes without
pressuring or controlling
· Restore affection and intimacy
· Enhance sex (talk therapy only)
· Manage jealousy and
possessiveness
· Balance career and
household responsibilities
· Resolve financial disagreements
· Reconcile differing views on
parenting
COUPLES
IN CRISIS
When couples are undecided about whether to stay together, they are guided
in making their own assessment of the potential for the relationship.
· Reduce stress
· Determine what changes are
needed
· Determine what changes are
possible
· After
infidelity, give your relationship the best chance to thrive
FAMILY
COUNSELLING
· Build strong stepfamilies & blended families
· Improve parent-teen
relationships
· Deal with an addicted loved one
· Resolve issues between parents
and adult sons and daughters
· Handle in-law difficulties
· Add to your existing parenting
skills
· Adjust to single parenting or
co-parenting after separation
NOTES REGARDING CO-COUNSELLING FOR COUPLES:
· Many couples prefer the gender
balance of co-counselling
· Some couples, unable to agree
on a male or female counsellor, can accept co-counselling
· Concurrent individual portions
during a meeting are possible
If Your Partner is Unwilling to
Try Counselling (at least at this time):
· Learn what changes you can try
that may inspire changes in your partner
· Learn how to cope if your
partner is unresponsive to your changes
(Note that if you make changes and those save the relationship, that does
NOT mean that the problems in the relationship were down to you; in order for
relationships to improve, BOTH partners will change, together, even if one
takes the first steps.)
